I'm leaving on a jet plane!

So , the Lotus Blossum tank is still unfinished and is packed in the suitcase to come with us. Its turning out quite wide, so I've had to decrease quite drastically at the bustline . Its either that or I have to knit myself a larger bust!
Cases are packed ...almost, and the kitchen floor has been cleaned as has the fridge - don't want any nasties when I come back.
And if it hasn't been done by now, it ain't getting done ever!
I'm off for the fortnight..... in the meantime, try some knitting!
Have Fun!

Farewell Old Friend!

Well we had minor incident last night chez nous - the electricity tripped and wouldn't go back on. Several phonecalls trying to locate anyone with electrical knowledge, and I managed to locate the miscreant..... my trusty kettle .
Now to someone who loves tea in any form, my trusty kettle is my friend. It was always the first thing out the box after any house move . This one I've had for 12 years and it has served me well.
Until last night .
Now I will need to decide on what type of new kettle to buy - do I go for a stove top one , or electrical like the last one? Do I buy quality or cheap ? Do I buy a new Eco one that I have been eyeing up for ages, but resisted because my trusty kettle of 12 years was serving me well.
I think a trip to John Lewis is in the pipeline!
On the knitting front - several bad headaches have slowed down the progress of my silk lotus blossom tank - it may still come with me to Majorca......unfinished!

Better get a move on!

Its all go here just now, only a week until the Summer Holidays to Majorca! Yippee!
Finally got the PIF gift finished - here it is in its knitty home of Cafe Flava!
And has now safely arrived in its proper home now - see here So glad you like it Tash, have fun with the knitting!
And in an effort to finish some summer knitting before the holidays, I've been out to my knitting groups! One needs encouragement !
Last Thursday evening was Flavaknits night, and thank you all, ladies, for your words of encouragement that helped get the PIF cpmpleted on time! There was an abundance of finished knitty items this week - First up is Marions cotton beaded cardi, pattern from Rowan RYC book.
Sandi pointing out the positioning of certain beads which made us all giggle (we're schoolgirls at heart!)
Gale is wearing her lovely Jamieson & Smith yarn cardi, and Moira has her finished stole. Karen is busy finishing socks in a lovely red colourway! (NDS yarn I think)
And not forgetting Val - starting another sweater, but with her nifty needles it'll be done in no time!
Then on Sunday afternoon, it was a quick trip up to Tramwayknits for a few hours of knitty fun - its a dirty job but someones go to do it!! lol
Nan was telling us all about the little joke she played on her mum - she got on old photo of her mother knitting , had it printed on to a T-shirt (Marks and Spencers, good quality!), with a quote! She showed her mum the T-shirt and claimed she found it in a Charity Shop ! (Vintage , darling, Vintage!), her mum commented on the quality, and on her daughters good luck at finding such a great bargain until it dawned on her that the photo looked familiar..... Apparently her face was a picture!! - 'scuse the pun . Here it is below, what do you think ?
For those of you who require reading glasses (I admit!) , it says, "I'm telling you ... one day this will be cool ", and the small print says "and you will thank me!"
Good , eh?
Catherine had been trying out her Knitting Knancy, bought at the SECC earlier in the year, along with some gorgeous beads, and made these lovely necklaces and bracelet - Alice had just pulled her hand away as she tried to pinch the bracelet!
And last week, Patsy was still knitting this lovely stripey jumper, now it is an FO! So cute.
Now there were a few more lovely FO's from Maggie and Gloria , but I'm saving them for next time - lets just say "Do you believe in Fairies? (hehehe, its a clue) . Oh yes, and Maggie found a naked baby doll in the cafe to model her FO's! ITs a funny old world .
And in between all these knitting groups , it was WWKIP day (WorldWide Knit in Public) I met up with Karen at Cupcake Corner, and attempted a few rows, although Jnr Junior had other ideas! Then on the train into and out of Glasgow I attempted a few more !
Its been quite a Knitty week!

A little update

Well its been a busy old time of late!
Had a wonderful (and sunny ) weekend in Inverness at the Sex and the City event - the cocktails were absolutely divine! Got roped into Raffle ticket selling, cocktail ticket stamping (only three per person, move along now ladies!) and bus boarding duties!
And we even enjoyed the film , although there were certain groups of "ladies" who were squaring up to each other at one point, but that was soon smoothed over !
Have had some lovely knitting time too, I am getting on with my PIF gift , and am taking every chance to get it finished. Trouble is, it will be difficult to part with , just as well I have already received my PIF! lol Also forging ahead on my Lotus Blossom tank - ripped out 4 times already so fingers crossed this is the last .
And on to the subject of lace - I got my Fairy Laceweight by Fyberspates from K1yarns. Was showing it off to Karen, who was also showing off her Jamiesons and Smith Lace kit for a beautiful circular shawl in shades of coffee - its going to be a Summer of Lace I feel. Had a lovely evening at Flavaknits last week - Karen had brought lots of lovely books, and not a lot of knitting was done. It was lovely to see Margaret again, who had come up all the way from West Kilbride. In fact it was a busy night and I think we nearly took over the cafe!
And I got to Tramwayknits on Sunday afternoon. Nan had finished a lovely summer sweater pattern from the "Peoples' Friend!" (gasp , and not a tartan slipper in sight!) - it was gorgeous with a lovely cable design just under the yoke. And it was sunny enough for us to sit out with the sunspecs on too! Evelyn is starting the Icarus Shawl from Interweave Knits in a lovely blue Helens' Laces yarn - funnily enough my pink Fairy wool is for the same project.
Well I need to try and finish some projects before starting others, but there are so many gorgeous patterns/yarns out there it is difficult .
But, I need to take one day at a time, and try and do ONE PATTERN at a time , difficult for someone like me whose concentration levels are NIL!
I mean look - I've cast on another project, can you guess what it is ?
Now this is one I started a while ago - last summer to be precise so technically it doesn't count (?!?)
And besides the knitting - have had some fun getting items for a Swap, my first. Haven't really got into swaps before, but this one is a Dr Who Jelly Baby swap! Do you remember Tom Baker, hat tipped back, scarf wound several times around his neck, cheeky grin and asking "would you like a jelly baby?" .
Just what the Doctor ordered!
Look at this cheeky monkey - whats he trying to pinch?
